# Location

Define and manage locations used by your organization.

## Overview

The **Location** category is used to configure geographic or operational locations relevant to your organization. It consists of three modules organized in a parent–child hierarchy:

* **Region**
* **Country**
* **Site**

***

## How Settings Are Applied

Locations configured in this category are reused across multiple forms and workflows.

In most cases, users select a location from a single **Site** dropdown.

{% hint style="info" %}
The dropdown displays the full location hierarchy to help distinguish between sites with similar names.

* Options are shown as: **`[Region] – [Country] – [Site]`**
 {% endhint %}

In other contexts, **Region**, **Country**, and **Site** appear as separate, dependent fields.

* Selecting a **Region** limits the available **Countries**
* Selecting a **Country** limits the available **Sites**

***

## Configuring Regions

Use the **Region** module to create and manage regions, which represent the highest level of the location hierarchy.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://interfacing.gitbook.io/interfacing-help-files/interfacing-help-files-fr/administration-and-configuration/configuring-application-settings/general-application-settings/location.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
