In the **Discovery Map** view, you can enable a range of metrics to better understand how cases flow through activities and paths. These metrics offer insight into frequency, coverage, timing, and complexity, supporting more detailed, context-aware analysis.

*** ## Configuring Map Metrics You can enable and customize map metrics using the following tools: #### Map Settings Panel * Click the **gear** ( ) icon in the **Map Toolbar** (bottom of the map) to open the **Map Settings** panel. * From this panel, toggle individual metrics on or off. The map updates immediately to reflect your selections. #### Variant Frequency Slider * Located on the left side of the **Discovery Map**. * Adjusts the number of process variants displayed, allowing you to control the level of detail.

*** {% stepper %} {% step %} ### Adjust Metrics in Map Settings You can enable or disable the following metrics: #### Case Frequency Displays the total number of cases that pass through each activity and path. * **Activities:** Shown as a number inside the activity cylinder. * **Paths:** Shown as a number centered on the path line.

#### Case Coverage Percentage Displays the percentage of cases that pass through each activity and path, relative to the total number of cases. * Shown as a percentage centered on the path line.

#### Average Duration Displays the average time cases spend in each activity or moving between activities. * **Activities:** Shown inside the activity cylinder. * **Paths:** Shown at the center of the connecting path.

#### Shortest Path Highlights the path with the **fewest number of activities** between the start and end events. * Useful for identifying the most direct route through the process. #### Longest Path Highlights the path with the **greatest number of activities** between the start and end events. * Useful for identifying complex or edge-case routes. {% hint style="warning" %} The **Shortest Path** and **Longest Path** metrics cannot be enabled at the same time. Enabling one will automatically disable the other. {% endhint %}

In addition to metrics, the **Map Settings** panel also includes display options that control the layout of the process map. #### Map Direction Switch between horizontal and vertical map orientation.

*** {% endstep %} {% step %} ### Adjust Variant Frequency Slider Use the **Variant Frequency** slider to filter the number of variants displayed in the **Discovery Map**, based on their frequency in the event log. This allows you to: * Focus on the most common behavior for a simplified, high-level view * Reveal less frequent variants to identify rare paths, bottlenecks, or compliance risks

#### How It Works: The slider dynamically adapts to the frequency distribution of variants in your event log. Moving the slider changes the level of detail in the map: * **Lowest Setting:**\ Displays only the most frequent variant. * **Higher Settings:**\ Gradually includes less frequent variants, revealing additional paths and activities. * **Maximum Setting:** Displays all variants from the event log, showing the full range of process behavior.

{% hint style="info" %} #### Example A process has 5 variants: * **Minimum Setting:** Only Variant 1 is shown. * **Mid-Range:** Variants 1, 2, and 3 are shown. * **Maximum:** All 5 variants are shown. {% endhint %} *** {% endstep %} {% endstepper %} *** ## Using the Map Toolbar Located at the bottom of the **Discovery Map**, the **Map Toolbar** includes the following tools: * **Fit Screen**\ Automatically resizes the map to fit entirely within the visible workspace. * **Zoom In / Zoom Out**\ Adjusts the magnification of the process map for closer or a broader view. {% hint style="info" %} To move the map, hover over an activity or path.
